Man allegedly attacked a cyclist in Boulder on Sunday

DENVER (KDVR) – Boulder police hope to identify a man accused of attacking a bicyclist on Sunday.

A community member reported to the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office that while riding his bicycle eastbound on Walnut Street near Ninth Street, he encountered a man traveling westbound. The area is just two blocks from Pearl Street Mall in Boulder. It is unclear when the incident occurred on Sunday.

According to police, the walking man allegedly extended his “arm parallel to the ground, almost as if he was striking the victim down with a clothesline.”

The man on his bicycle was unable to stop in time and the suspect “then made an upward motion and struck the victim in the face.”

“Let’s hold this person accountable, Boulder,” the agency wrote. “People should be able to move freely in this beautiful city without being attacked.”

The agency released footage the victim took after the attack on the suspect, which shows him continuing to walk down Walnut Street, stopping cars and yelling at drivers. The video, however, has no audio.

Anyone with information regarding the attack or the identity of the suspect is asked to contact the Boulder Police Department’s Incident Command Center at 303-441-3333 (case number 24-6630).
