Worli hit-and-run case resembles Pune Porsche incident as accused’s father tells driver to take the blame – India TV

As the trial continues in the Worli hit-and-run case in which accused Mihir Shah, his father Rajesh Shah and driver Rajrishi Rajendra Singh Bidawat have been produced, Mumbai Police informed the court that the main accused had spoken to his father on the phone several times after the incident. Police said that Mihir called his father after the accident and Rajesh then asked Mihir and Rajrishi to swap seats.

Meanwhile, amid rising number of hit-and-run cases in Maharashtra, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Monday assured the state’s full support to the victims and families who have endured inconsolable grief due to the accidents.

The Chief Minister of Maharashtra also announced via X (formerly Twitter) that stricter laws and harsher penalties would be introduced for hit-and-run drivers.

“I am deeply concerned about the rise in hit-and-run incidents in Maharashtra. It is intolerable that the powerful and influential are abusing their status to manipulate the system. Such miscarriages of justice will not be tolerated by my government. The lives of common people are precious to us. I have directed the state police department to treat these cases with utmost seriousness and ensure that justice is done. We are also introducing stricter laws and harsher punishments for hit-and-run offenders,” the Maharashtra Chief Minister said.

“No one, whether rich, influential or the scion of bureaucrats or ministers belonging to any party, will enjoy immunity as long as I am the Chief Minister of the state. I have zero tolerance for injustice. To be clear, my government stands firmly with the victims and their families. We are determined to make Maharashtra safer for all its citizens,” he added.
