Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office: Suspect arrested, child dead after incident on Pendleton Drive

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. – A suspect has been arrested and a minor is dead following an incident in Elkhart County.

According to a press release from the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office, an “active situation” occurred on Pendleton Drive outside of Elkhart this weekend. WSBT 22, a CBS affiliate based in South Bend, reported that SWAT personnel began working an incident involving an adult and a juvenile on Pendleton Drive on Saturday evening.


The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office did not say exactly when the unrest ended. Police have released few details about what actually transpired during the incident.

The Elkhart County Homicide Unit and the Indiana State Police are still investigating the riot because it resulted in the death of a minor.

The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office said further investigation into the incident is being handled by the county attorney’s office.
