Broward officials arrest fugitive in drug trafficking case

FORT LAUDERDALE, Florida. – Broward County Sheriff’s Office officials have arrested a 33-year-old fugitive, a convicted felon facing drug trafficking charges.

According to Broward Sheriff’s Office inmate records, Moses “Moe” Francois was in Fort Lauderdale Main Jail on Saturday after being arrested by West Park officers and held without bail on Friday.

According to court records, Miami-born Francois had been on pretrial release since June 15, 2023, and a judge ordered his arrest on June 26 after he allegedly damaged his GPS ankle bracelet and disappeared.

Officers arrested Francois on a warrant pending trial. He was charged with seven counts: trafficking fentanyl, trafficking heroin, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, two counts of trafficking fentanyl, unauthorized use of a two-way communication device and resisting an officer without the use of force.

According to the Florida Department of Corrections, Francois was sentenced to two years in prison in 2014 for trafficking cocaine, heroin and marijuana in Broward County. He was released from prison on February 20, 2015.
