Doping investigations at the Olympic Games – WCCB Charlotte’s CW

The US government has launched a criminal investigation into a doping case against Chinese swimmers.

World Aquatics announces that a witness statement is required against its managing director.

The case concerns 23 Chinese swimmers who failed doping tests several months before the 2021 Tokyo Olympics but still took part in the Games. Some of the swimmers won medals.

The Chinese Anti-Doping Agency said that extremely low levels of a banned performance-enhancing substance were detected in the athletes during a national competition.

The agency concluded that the swimmers were inadvertently exposed to the drug.
