Two people shot in a South Chicago neighborhood

A man and a woman were killed at the scene of a shooting in the South Chicago neighborhood Friday morning.

At least six people have been killed and dozens injured in the shootings over the Fourth of July weekend.

The attack occurred at about 7:05 a.m. in the 3400 block of East 87th Street, police said.

Both were found unconscious. They had suffered numerous gunshot wounds; their names were not initially known.

The detectives from Area 2 are investigating.
