VISALIA, California (KSEE/KGPE) – A 47-year-old man was killed in an accident involving a truck pulling farm equipment in Visalia on Wednesday evening, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Officials said they received a call around 10 p.m. about a two-vehicle crash on Route 128 north of Avenue 24 in Tulare County.

When officers arrived at the scene, they said their investigation determined that the 47-year-old Rosamond man was driving a Toyota Sienna northbound on Route 128 north of Avenue 24 at an unknown speed.

At the same time, a 52-year-old man from Delano was driving a GMC 2500 pickup truck towing farm equipment south on Route 128.

According to officials, the driver of the Toyota then drifted to the left toward the GMC for unknown reasons.

The driver of the GMC then swerved to the right to avoid an accident. Despite his efforts, however, the Toyota struck the farm equipment that was being towed by the GMC.

The driver of the Toyota died as a result of the accident.

It is not known whether alcohol or drugs played a role in this accident.

The California Highway Patrol wants to remind people to avoid all distractions while driving, drive at a safe speed, always wear your seat belt, and never drive while impaired.
