Hartford Mayor Names New Acting Police Chief – NBC Connecticut

A new acting police chief has been appointed to lead the Hartford Police Department.

On Wednesday, Mayor Arunan Arulampalam announced the appointment of Kenny Howell as acting mayor.

Howell served as deputy chief of the department.

The appointment comes a few months after current CEO Jason Thody announced his retirement plans.

According to the mayor’s office, Howell has been with the Hartford PD since 2020 and has been with the police force since 1991.
