3-year-old airlifted to Atlanta hospital after possible drowning at West Point Lake

TROUP COUNTY, Georgia (WRBL) — A child was airlifted to an Atlanta hospital after being pulled from the waters of West Point Lake, according to the Troup County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO).

Deputies were dispatched to the scene of a possible drowning on Yellow Jacket Beach at West Point Lake around 6:30 p.m. Monday.


Rescue workers informed the police that a three-year-old child had been pulled out of the water. The child received cardiopulmonary resuscitation care from lake residents.

Upon arrival at the scene, deputies and other first responders continued to apply lifesaving measures.

The child was airlifted to an Atlanta-area hospital where he is receiving treatment. TCSO says this appears to be a tragic accident.
