Police officer injured, mass arrests on Sunday in Lakeview

According to Chicago police, one police officer was injured and mass arrests were made in Lakeview overnight Sunday.

A 20-year-old woman refused to obey an officer’s command around 12:10 a.m. near the 1000 block of West School Street, police said. She then pulled the officer’s hair and hit him, police said. The officer suffered a minor cut but declined medical treatment.

She was immediately taken into custody, police said, and detectives are currently investigating.

Nearby, in the 3000 block of North Clark Street, Chicago police ordered mass arrests around 1:23 a.m. The number of arrests is currently unknown, but the scene is active, according to police.

The arrests took place near the venue of the Chicago Pride Parade, which took place on Sunday morning.
