A boil water warning is in effect in the city of Pearl

A boil water advisory is in effect in the town of Pearl. The Mississippi State Department of Health issued the advisory on Thursday. Officials said the drinking water sample detected E. coli bacteria. Fecal coliforms and E. coli are bacteria whose presence indicates that the water may be contaminated with human or animal waste, the health department said. The boil water advisory will remain in effect for at least two days.
