York County man arrested after allegedly sexually abusing 13-year-old, sheriff’s office says

The York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office said 62-year-old Daniel Russel was arrested and charged with aggravated sexual abuse and indecent exposure to a child.

YORK COUNTY, Virginia – A man was arrested Tuesday and charged with the alleged sexual abuse of a 13-year-old, officials say.

A York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office spokesman said 62-year-old Daniel Martin Russel was arrested and charged with aggravated sexual assault and indecent exposure to a child.

Deputies said they received a complaint on Monday that a 13-year-old boy had been sexually assaulted by a man. The sexual assault allegedly occurred at Russell’s home in York County.

The sheriff’s office determined that Russel is a registered sex offender. He is currently being held at the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail.

The sheriff’s office did not release any further information about the incident.
