Rapist at large after woman attacked on coastal path in Cornwall

A woman was raped on a coastal path in Cornwall and the perpetrator is still at large. Detectives from Devon and Cornwall Police have launched a manhunt and are appealing for information following the serious sexual assault near Portreath.

According to police, the woman was raped on the coastal path at North Cliffs, near Bassett Cove, at around 6pm on Wednesday 19 June. The perpetrator then fled the scene in the direction of Godrevy.



He is described as white, about 1.80 m tall, slim and with dark brown hair about five centimeters long. He was wearing a dark-colored short-sleeved T-shirt, dark jeans and dark sneakers.

Detective Inspector Dan McKenzie said: “The woman is currently being cared for by specially trained officers. Our investigation into this incident is ongoing and I would urge anyone who was in the area at the time and may have seen anything that could assist our investigation to come forward.

“Anyone who may have seen this man or anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact police on 101 quoting 50240152507.”
