35-year-old man dies of heart attack while hiking at Lake 22




GRANITE FALLS – A man died Friday afternoon from complications of a heart attack while hiking at Lake 22 near Granite Falls, authorities said.

The 35-year-old man lost consciousness on the trail around 3 p.m., said Snohomish County Sheriff’s Lt. Dave Hayes.

After an attempt at resuscitation, the man was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, Hayes said.

The man died about 1.5 miles from the trailhead, which is off the Mountain Loop Highway.

Lake 22 is a popular, moderate hike, about six miles round trip with an elevation gain of over 1,400 feet.
