Suraj Revanna arrested after man accuses JD(S) leader of sexual abuse

Hassan/Mysuru: A man from Arkalgud, who in an email to the DGP’s office allegedly accused JD(S) leader Suraj Revanna – brother of Prajwal Revanna, who is accused of sexual crimes by several women – of sexual abuse, lodged a formal complaint against the MLC at Holenarsipur rural police station in Hassan district on Saturday evening. They are in the process of filing an FIR.

Though the complainant had allegedly sent a copy of his mail to the SP of Hassan, the same copy was allegedly forwarded to the Holenarsipur Rural Police and they allegedly attempted to contact him.

His statements were recorded by the police under the leadership of ASP Venkatesh Naidu. Security measures have been tightened around the railway station.

Earlier on the same day, Home Minister Dr G Parameshwar had stated that he had not received any letter from the complainant and assured that the steps prescribed by law would be taken if he officially lodged a complaint.

On Friday, Shivakumar, a JD(S) worker and treasurer of Suraj Brigade, had filed an extortion complaint against this complainant at Holenarsipur police station in Hassan district, alleging that the man had demanded Rs 5 crore from MLC Dr Suraj Revanna and threatened to file a case of unnatural sexual abuse against him if he did not pay the amount.

Suraj Revanna is the son of Holenarsipur MP HD Revanna.
