One dead after early morning shooting in Chesapeake – The Virginian-Pilot

Police say a man is dead after an early morning shooting in Chesapeake.

According to Chesapeake police, authorities responded to reports of gunfire in the 3000 block of Parkside Drive, a residential area near Stalham Road, around 3:29 a.m. Saturday morning.

Police said they discovered a man with a gunshot wound. The man was given first aid and taken to a local hospital for further treatment. He was pronounced dead shortly afterward.

Police have not yet released the victim’s name and are still notifying his family, spokesman Leo Kosinski said. They also have no information on a suspect at this time. Police said they are actively investigating the shooting.
