Santa Rosa police officer injured while arresting suspect who attacked his grandmother

A Santa Rosa police officer suffered a broken bone in his face after being punched by a suspect. Officers responded to reports of loud fighting on Wednesday. The suspect, 25-year-old Paulino Garfias, pushed his grandmother, causing her to bang her head against a wall. As officers attempted to arrest him, he punched an officer hard in the face, fracturing the officer’s eye socket. Police eventually used a stun gun to subdue him. Garfias was arrested and booked into the Sonoma County Jail on $100,000 bail. He has a prior conviction dating to 2019, including assault on a peace officer.
