Elk Horn Mayor issues statement on possible kidnapping incident | Audubon

ELK HORN – Elk Horn Mayor Stan Jens released a statement on the City of Elk Horn Facebook page regarding a possible kidnapping incident that reportedly occurred in Elk Horn last Wednesday.

“At approximately 3:30 p.m. (Wednesday), pool staff were notified via dispatch of a white van attempting to lure a child into their vehicle after they left the facility to go home,” Jens wrote in the post. “All surrounding police were immediately called to search Elk Horn and all facilities were cordoned off until the all-clear was given. At this time, the driver was described as a white male, bald and wearing a black shirt. No further details are known at this time.”

Jens said that because of this incident, parents should remind their children what to do if they find themselves in a similar situation.

“This is a reminder to talk to your children about being aware of their surroundings and staying alert,” Jens wrote in the post.
