A city man was killed in a motorcycle accident that occurred in Frankstown Township around 2:37 p.m. Thursday.

According to the Blair County Coroner’s Office, 57-year-old Brian L. Colabove died from injuries sustained in the crash. He was the only passenger on the motorcycle, the coroner’s office said, adding that no other vehicles were involved.

In a news release, state police said Colabove was riding a 2014 Harley-Davidson Sportster in the left lane of South Logan Boulevard when he lost control of the motorcycle for unknown reasons. The motorcycle overturned while he was riding, causing Colabove to fall from the vehicle and strike a metal sign post between the northbound and southbound lanes of South Logan Boulevard at the intersection with Brushmeade Road, police said. Colabove was pronounced dead at the scene by the medical examiner.

Because of the accident, a section of South Logan Boulevard was closed for more than two hours while police investigated.

The accident is currently being investigated further, state police said.
