Air quality alarm and more heat

We are looking forward to another hot, dry summer day. Here are the main highlights:

  • Air quality alert today
  • Tonight the storms return
  • It feels like temperatures will reach 100 on Monday

An Air Quality Alert is in effect for Greater Cincinnati today. For a full list of things to avoid to reduce air pollution, visit this LINK.

The forecast for today is mostly sunny and hot weather. This afternoon it will reach 30 degrees and with low humidity it will not feel any warmer.

A line of showers and thunderstorms will be located west of us today and will eventually come into our area after midnight. But as the storms move into the Tri-State region, they will weaken and decrease in intensity. We’ll have our best chance for rain between 1 and 4 a.m., especially in southeast Indiana. Then as the line moves further east, it will taper off and turn into lighter, scattered showers by 7 a.m. Check out the difference in coverage:

The weather forecast for Friday is mainly cloudy, warm and humid. Behind the cold front it will still be up to 30 degrees. Isolated showers are possible during the day, but there will be hardly any rain.

On Saturday, the air is drier, meaning another mostly sunny day with highs around 28 degrees and no humidity issues. Humidity increases throughout Sunday, leading to a muggier forecast as the high rises to 33 degrees.

Monday is the day you’ll really “carry the air” here in the tri-state area. Higher dew points and highs around 96 degrees will bring heat index readings around 100 degrees.
