“Air quality alert” for Louisville on Wednesday

LOUISVILLE, Kentucky – Louisville, Kentucky and surrounding counties in southern Indiana are under an “Air Quality Warning” due to high ozone emissions until midnight Wednesday, June 12.

During warm, sunny and calm weather conditions, ozone levels increase throughout the day. Air quality is likely to be most affected in the afternoon and early evening.

Groups sensitive to ozone pollution include children, the elderly, asthmatics, COPD patients and people with other respiratory diseases, and people who spend a lot of time outdoors.

Sensitive groups of people are advised to reduce prolonged or heavy exertion outdoors, take more breaks and perform less intense activities, especially later in the day.
