2 boys arrested after reported break-ins at Streator vaporizer shops – Shaw Local

Two Streator residents, ages 12 and 14, were arrested and transferred to the La Salle County District Attorney’s Office Juvenile Division after police said they were involved in reported burglaries.

Streator police said the boys broke into a vaping store in the 2400 block of North Bloomington Street on Wednesday morning. Police said the products were stolen once at 2 a.m. and later at 10 p.m. Video and still images were used to identify one of the boys, police said.

At 3 a.m. on Monday, another vape shop was attempted to break into. The officer who identified one of the teens from June 5 suspected the same boys were involved in that attempted break-in. In Monday’s case, they did not gain entry but set off an audible alarm, police said.

When the police arrived, no one was there, but the officer drove to the home of one of the boys. A few minutes later, the youth appeared in front of his house on a bicycle.

He was taken into custody along with the other boy and brought to court. An inventory of reported stolen items from the June 5 break-in was recovered from the bedroom of one of the teens, police said. The reports were submitted to the La Salle County District Attorney’s Office for forwarding to the Juvenile Division.
