1 dead and one injured in double shooting in NN

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — One man is dead and another injured after a shooting in Newport News Sunday night, police said.

At around 5:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to North Trellis Court for a shooting.

Upon arrival, they found a man with at least one gunshot wound that did not appear to be life-threatening. Another man with a gunshot wound appeared to have life-threatening injuries. Both victims were transported to a local hospital for treatment. The victim with the life-threatening injuries died at the hospital.

Detectives are combing the area and forensics are on site. There is currently no information about a suspect and the investigation is ongoing.
