Man arrested near Gateway Arch for allegedly killing his brothers

LOUIS- A man wanted in Illinois for the deaths of his two brothers was arrested near the Gateway Arch. St. Louis Metropolitan Police said they were alerted by the National Park Service that 54-year-old Jeffrey Austwick might be near the arch’s grounds. Officers used surveillance cameras to locate and arrest him on Friday.

According to police, the suspect had a weapon with him at the time of his arrest.

Austwick is charged with two counts of murder in Lake County, Illinois. Investigators say he lived in Highland Park with his recently deceased mother. Last week, his two brothers came to the house to talk about the property. Police say Austwick then shot them and set the house on fire.

A GoFundMe campaign has been set up to support the family of his 60-year-old brother John, who leaves behind a wife and two daughters. His older brother Marc was 63.
