Video: Chandler Smith causes a serious accident on the final lap of the Xfinity race in Sonoma.

The Xfinity race in Sonoma was marked by numerous accidents. The Kaulig Racing Team secured two consecutive victories in the Xfinity Series race on the Sonoma Road Course and survived thrilling moments. While the New Zealand driver was on his way to victory in the closing stages of the race, chaos broke out behind him, resulting in many cars being taken out of the race.

On the restart with just 30 laps remaining, a driver spun out exiting the corner, causing a mass accident involving most of the cars outside the top 9. As the leading group approached the finish line, the corner turned into a parking lot and cars stalled as they collided with the rear of their competitors.

According to the official list, several drivers were involved in the accident. Of the twelve cars involved, four drivers did not finish the race, including Gibbs and Williams, who had shown impressive speed throughout the day.

It was another disappointing day for Joe Gibbs Racing’s Chandler Smith in the No. 81 car. Despite a strong start to the season with two race wins and no finishes worse than eighth in the first seven races, his performance dropped off in the final seven races and he finished in the top ten just twice, casting doubt on his chances of winning the championship.

After the race in Sonoma, it was not surprising that drivers criticized each other and got into heated arguments. Two drivers involved in the serious accident, and , argued with each other. Their argument stemmed from a late spin that ruined both races. Despite the frustration, it is understandable that Sieg was disappointed as the incident cost him a possible top-10 finish.

The eventful race left a bitter aftertaste for the fans. However, there were also exciting racing moments and the victory of crowd favorite SVG helped to ease some of the negative feelings.
