Attorneys represent Scrivner family at family law hearing

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KERO) – Nearly two months after Kern County Sheriff’s officers were called to District 2 Supervisor Zack Scrivner’s Tehachapi home, a family law hearing was held.

  • The lawyers agreed to a six-month delay while the criminal investigation continues.
  • Christina Scrivner, Zack’s wife, filed for divorce in March.
  • Attorney Nicholas Azemika, who is representing Christina, said there will be another hearing on the status of the investigation to see how the criminal investigation can proceed.

Nearly two months after Kern County Sheriff’s officials were called to District 2 Supervisor Zack Scrivner’s home in Tehachapi, a family law hearing was held.

Attorneys for Zack and Christina Scrivner attended the domestic violence restraining order hearing Thursday morning, but neither Zack nor Christina were present.

Ultimately, the lawyers agreed to a six-month delay while the criminal investigation continues.

In April, sheriff’s deputies responded to the supervisor’s home after calls from the Kern County District Attorney and Zack’s aunt, Cynthia Zimmer. The following day, Sheriff Donny Youngblood confirmed that the investigation stemmed from an altercation between Scrivner and his children over allegations of sexual abuse. The sheriff said Scrivner had been stabbed by one of his children.

Before the incident, Christina Scrivner had filed for divorce in March.

Following the sheriff’s testimony, attorney HA Sala announced his representation of Scrivner. He denied all allegations of abuse and said the stabbing was the result of a mental breakdown Scrivner was experiencing due to his impending divorce.

According to court documents, Christina filed for a temporary restraining order and a domestic violence restraining order following the incident. A temporary restraining order was granted in May.

Because of Scrivner’s personal connection to the District Attorney, the criminal investigation is currently under review by the Attorney General’s Office.

The next family law hearing is scheduled for December 2.

Attorney Nicholas Azemika, who is representing Christina, said there will be another hearing on the status of the investigation to see how the criminal investigation can proceed.

Zack Scrivner is not currently facing any charges and records indicate he is not in custody.
