Convicted rapist gets 35 years | News

CANANDAIGUA – A local man has been sentenced to more than three decades in prison for rape and other charges – and faces an even longer sentence for allegedly plotting the murder of an Ontario County judge.

In a news release, the Ontario County District Attorney’s Office said Alexander Kise, 21, was sentenced to 35 years in prison on Friday by Acting District Judge Rick Healy for rape, sexual assault, false imprisonment and coercion. A jury found Kise guilty on those charges following a trial in March.

Healy, a Wayne County judge, was assigned to the sentencing hearing after District Judge Brian Dennis, who presided over Kise’s trial, disqualified himself from the hearing. Kise and others were charged with attempted murder for attempting to have Dennis killed following Kise’s trial.

“Today, a young woman who chose to stand up to Alexander Kise and say ‘no’ finally saw the result of her courage,” Assistant District Attorney Kelly Wolford said in the news release. “Alexander Kise always got his way. When he didn’t, he resorted to violence and coercion to get what he wanted.”

District Attorney Jim Ritts said the conviction was based on Kise’s “terrifying” actions over two days in June 2022, when he injured, threatened, imprisoned and sexually assaulted a young woman he met through social media.

The case was prosecuted by Wolford and Assistant District Attorney Victoria Porter.

Ritts said the jury was presented with extensive evidence during the seven-day trial detailing the young victim’s trauma and what she did to cope with the experience.

“The court (the judge) recognized the terror that Alexander Kise inflicted on this young woman and her family,” Wolford said. “Thirty-five years in prison plus 20 years of probation upon release is necessary to ensure the safety of our victim and her family, as well as the community as a whole.”

Kise and his girlfriend Alydia Gater, 22, are accused of attempted murder, conspiracy and illegal sale of narcotics in the alleged contract killing. A 16-year-old girl is accused of attempted murder and conspiracy in the case.

According to state police, Kise and Gater began planning their plot while Kise was on trial for rape and other charges.

According to police, Gater met several times with a person she believed to be a hit man, but who was actually an undercover state trooper. In a parking lot in Victor, she allegedly gave the man nearly $1,800 worth of Xanax pills – instead of money – to kill people involved in Kise’s trial, including Dennis, Wolford and Porter.

Ritts said the plan was to have the hitman shoot the judge.

The case involving Kise, Gater and the teenager is being tried in court.
