Alabama child molester caught hiding in national forest – Crime Online

A south Alabama man is behind bars accused of raping and sodomizing a child under the age of 10 after evading police for two days.

The Dale County Sheriff’s Office said 33-year-old Colt Bryan Lecuyer was already a registered sex offender when a witness called 911 on Friday to report seeing Lecuyer raping the child in the back seat of his car, the Dothan Eagle reported.

Lecuyer fled the scene before Level Plains police officers arrived and gave him a “Watch Out!” warning. Several hours later, officers in Auburn, more than 100 miles away, found his vehicle abandoned in a Walmart parking lot.

Officers seized the vehicle and returned it to Dale County, but the search for the suspect was unsuccessful until he was spotted on foot in the Tuskegee National Forest on Sunday. The Macon County Sheriff’s Office, as well as units from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency and the state Department of Corrections, responded and tracked him down.

“Department of Corrections tracking dog teams tracked the suspect for over four miles before apprehending him in a wooded area off County Road 57 in Macon County,” said Dale County Sheriff Mason Bynum.

Dale County officials traveled to Macon County and transported Lecuyer back to south Alabama. He is being held without bail, jail records show.
