Police: DNA links teenager to sexual assault

An 18-year-old Odessa man was arrested Thursday after DNA evidence linked him to a sexual assault his ex-girlfriend said he committed in October.

According to an Odessa Police report, a 17-year-old girl told authorities that she let her estranged boyfriend Omarion Knox in through her bedroom window on October 27, 2023 so they could talk.

The girl said Knox sexually assaulted her several times after he and she began kissing while she repeatedly said “no” and tried to push him away, the report said.

According to the report, the attack only stopped when she screamed and someone else entered the room, the girl said.

Authorities obtained a search warrant for Knox’s DNA and a comparison with samples taken during an examination by a nurse specializing in sex crimes found matches, the report said.

Knox was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault. He was released from the Ector County Jail the same day after posting $30,000 bail.
