ELKINS – A two-vehicle crash on Corridor H claimed the life of an Elkins woman Saturday, officials said.

According to a press release from Randolph County Sheriff Rob Elbon, Louanna Carr was pronounced dead by the medical examiner at Davis Medical Center after she was transported to the facility from the Randolph County Emergency Room.

“The Sheriff’s Office would like to extend our deepest condolences to the victim’s family and will continue to pray for their peace during this tragic time,” Elbon wrote in the press release.

At around 12:37 p.m. on Saturday, emergency crews were called to the intersection of Harrison Avenue and Route 33 in Crystal Springs.

According to the press release, the emergency number 911 reported that there were injuries as a result of an accident.

Deputies L. Elbon and J. Wolfe of the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office were the first to arrive on the scene and were assisted by members of the West Virginia State Police Elkins Division, the report said.

A semi-trailer pulling a farm trailer loaded with livestock collided with the vehicle driven by Carr, who was rescued by the Elkins Fire Department. The truck’s driver was also taken to Davis Medical Center, according to the report.

A local farm owner offered to hold the cattle that were in the crashed truck until they could be picked up by the owner later, the report said. The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office requested the West Virginia State Police Crash Reconstruction Team come to the scene and investigate the accident.

On site, the team created a diagram of the crash site to calculate speed and ejection distance.

No charges have been filed at the time of the collision and the accident remains under investigation.
