Storms in Houston, Texas on May 28: Live updates and information

Around 2 p.m., more than 250,000 customers were without power as a severe series of storms moved through southeast Texas.

HOUSTON — Another powerful series of storms moved through the Houston area Tuesday, knocking out power to more than a quarter of a million CenterPoint customers. The storm was accompanied by powerful winds, hail and blinding wind.

POWER PROBLEMS IN VOTING CENTERS

At 1 p.m., Harris County Clerk Teneshia Hudspeth reported that at least a dozen voting centers had lost power.

Spring Branch ISD offers shelter in place

At 1:52 p.m., a shelter-in-place order was issued to Spring Branch ISD. All layoffs and buses were held back until the green light was given. A decision regarding after-school programs will be made soon.
