Sunday: Dry afternoon, thunderstorms in the evening. Memorial Day: Scattered chance of rain.

SAGINAW, Michigan (WNEM) – Overall it will be dry over the next two days, but there is still a chance of rain at times. See below for an hourly breakdown.

SUNDAY | Dry weather prevails this morning and luckily for anyone planning to do something outdoors today, it will stay dry through early evening. Cloud cover will continue to increase throughout the day ahead of an approaching storm. By late afternoon, the clouds will make conditions feel more like mostly cloudy. Highs will rise above 25 degrees in most cases, with some reaching 27 degrees. Cooler temperatures are expected along our lake shores.

The chance of rain is virtually zero this morning and afternoon, increasing only after 5 p.m. and lasting until about 11 p.m. Showers and thunderstorms will move into central Michigan in an arcing band that should bring some heavier downpours, lightning and possibly some fresh wind. Isolated stronger, possibly violent, wind gusts are not out of the question for southern central Michigan, but overall the risk of severe weather is fairly low this evening.

A few isolated, light showers are possible overnight, but no severe weather is expected. Lows tonight will be between 13 and 16 degrees.

MONDAY | Memorial Day will begin with scattered rain showers in parts of Mid-Michigan, especially in Thumb and some of our northern counties. Rain chances will likely peak around and just after daybreak. Only scattered, brief, light showers are possible throughout the region during the late morning, afternoon, and evening. For now, I expect most of Mid-Michigan to stay dry on Memorial Day, but again, scattered showers are still possible, so don’t be surprised if we see a brief downpour on Monday.

Memorial Day is expected to be cool, cloudy and windy, with an almost fall-like feel, with highs of 65 to 70 degrees, cloudy skies and winds from the west gusting 30 to 35 mph.
