Crime in Chicago: Man shot, killed, 2 women injured at Christiana Avenue and 13th Street in North Lawndale, Chicago police say

CHICAGO (WLS) — A man was shot while standing on a sidewalk on the city’s west side, police said.

The shooting occurred around 2:58 a.m. Sunday in the 1300 block of South Christiana Avenue in North Lawndale.

A group of people were on the sidewalk when shots were fired. It is not known if the shooter was part of the group.

A 28-year-old man died as a result of a gunshot wound to the back, Chicago police said.

Two women, ages 18 and 28, were shot in the legs. They were taken to hospital and expected to recover.

It is not known what led to the shooting.

No one is in custody. The investigation is being conducted by detectives from CPD Area 4.
