Pune (Maharashtra) (India), September 6 (ANI): Pune city police have arrested eight people, including two railway officials, in connection with the alleged gang rape of a minor girl after she was abducted from Pune railway station in the night August 31st.

The police initially registered a kidnapping case based on the complaint of the girl’s father and based on the girl’s statement, lodged charges of gang rape and relevant sections of POCSO against the accused, Deputy Commissioner of Police Namrata Patil said.

The girl was recovered from Mumbai on Sunday and based on her statement, police arrested eight people in the case, including two railway officials and some auto drivers, Patil said.

The minor girl met her friend at Pune railway station on August 31. When her friend didn’t arrive at the train station, a driver offered her a ride home and took her to an unknown location, police said.

Since then, the girl was taken to different places and raped by several people in Pune and Mumbai, police said.

All the accused were produced before the court, which granted them eight days’ detention.

The girl’s condition is stable and further investigations are underway. (ANI)
