Akhila Priya’s bodyguard attacked in Allagadda

Kurnool: An ‘attempt to assassinate’ was made against former minister and Allagadda Telugu Desam candidate Bhuma Akhila Priya’s bodyguard in Allagadda in Nandyal district on Tuesday evening.

Police said the victim Nikhil was hit by a car driven by unknown persons. A tense situation then developed in the faction-dominated area.

According to reports, Nikhil and two other people were standing on the main road in front of Bhuma Akhila Priya’s residence. They were hit by a speeding SUV. Three men got out of the vehicle and attacked Nikhil with sharp weapons. Nikhil ran into Akhila Priya’s house and the attackers fled the scene in their vehicle. He was later admitted to a hospital in Nandyal.

Akhila Priya urged the police to take swift action against the attackers.

Nikhil was allegedly involved in an attack on TD leader AV Subbareddy during the Yuvagalam padayatra organized by Telugu Desam leader Nara Lokesh in Nandyal. The police believe it was a retaliatory attack.

The Allgadda police have filed a case against AV Subbareddy, Chandra and four others.
