Opelika man killed in overnight Salem crash – CNAW 2 with Colin Scroggins

An Opelika man has died after an overnight crash in Salem Township, Lee County.

The accident occurred at approximately 12:01 a.m. on Saturday, May 11, 2024, in the 7800 block of Lee Road 145, just two miles from US Highway 280. According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, 51-year-old Orlando R. Welch was fatally injured when the 2002 Buick Park Avenue he was driving left the roadway, struck a stone pillar and rolled over.

Welch was pronounced dead at the scene. Officers from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
