LMPD: 2 arrested in connection with fatal shooting at Cafe 360

​LMPD said the entire incident was caught on camera, which allowed them to identify both Marquis Ward and Dante Smith.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Authorities on Friday arrested two people in the fatal shooting at Cafe 360 ​​in early March.

Louisville Metropolitan Police have arrested Marquis Ward on murder and robbery charges and Dante Smith on assault and robbery charges in connection with the incident.

According to the arrest report, both Ward and Smith got into an argument with another man and the victim, 21-year-old Theodore Brown, on popular Bardstown Road.

Police said Smith hit the man and Brown tried to intervene. Ward then pulled out his gun and shot Brown in the head, according to investigators.

Court documents further stated that both Ward and Smith stole Brown’s firearm and the other man’s gun and fled the scene.

After the deadly shooting, city officials pushed for an ordinance giving Louisville’s Alcohol Beverage Control (ABC) the authority to suspend liquor licenses in the city in an emergency.

Because of the shooting, Café 360 temporarily waived its renewed liquor license for the next six months. This meant the popular meeting place was unable to sell alcohol during this period between 2am and 4am.
