Suspect arrested after fatal shooting at Brooklyn apartment complex

Detectives in Brooklyn arrested a 28-year-old man on Saturday for allegedly shoot a man in the district earlier this month.

Law enforcement sources said Aaron Granton was at around 3:10 a.m. on July 27 in 60th District for the shooting of 32-year-old Deon Williams of 834 Park Ave., Brooklyn.

Williams was found on July 13 at around 6:26 p.m. near 68 Marcus Garvey Blvd. within the Sumner Houses, a public housing complex in Bedford-Stuyvesant.

Officials of the 79th District And PSA3 responded to an emergency call that a person had been shot at this location. They found Williams unconscious and unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the upper body.

Emergency services also arrived at the scene and took Williams to Kings County Hospital in critical condition, where he was pronounced dead.

According to police, Williams lived near the public housing complex on Park Avenue.

Granton is charged with first-degree murder and two counts of illegal possession of a firearm. He has been arrested once before, for illegal possession of a firearm.

His court date for the murder charge is August 1st and his court date for the previous weapons charge is September 26th.

The investigations are still ongoing.
