However, an official order issued by Kashmir District Commissioner VK Bidhuri said that teaching staff of these schools should continue to perform their duties.

In an order, Bidhuri said, “In view of the ongoing heat wave in the Valley, classes for students up to primary level in both government and recognized private schools shall remain suspended on July 29 and 30, 2024.”

“However, all teaching and non-teaching staff will continue to carry out their duties as usual,” the official statement said.

On the other hand, residents of Anantnag region in South Kashmir are seeking relief from the intense summer heat in the refreshing waters of their local ponds and canals as the country experiences heatwaves on a regular basis. A resident of the region said that due to global warming, people are moving to streams and ponds to find relief.
