Actress Tillotama Shome recently recalled a horrific experience of sexual harassment that she went through in Delhi. In the interview, Tillotama revealed that the incident took place when she was waiting for a bus in Delhi during the winter months. While she was waiting for the bus, a car stopped next to her and a group of men started harassing her.

“Then they started whistling at me. Someone threw a small stone. I walked a little further away. I thought, I have to get out of here. I either run now, but they can be faster than me. So I decided to stand in the middle of the road and go with them,” she said.

She reported that several cars drove by, but none of them stopped. Soon she saw a car with a medical sign approaching from a distance and got into the front seat next to the stranger.

“We just moved a little bit. He took my hand and unzipped his pants and I think he wanted me to do something. The moment he forced me to do it, it was like an instinctive blow, like he hit me. I don’t know what I did, but he had to stop his car because something happened. He swerved, whatever. And he asked me to get out,” Tillotama said.

She called it a horrific experience and said she was shaken by it. Recalling the incident, she added, “I thought it would be safer since he was a doctor. I got into the car and sat in the front seat. But then the driver unzipped his pants and tried to force me. My instinct took over and I hit him. He had to stop the car due to the incident and asked me to get out. It was a horrific experience and I was shaken. But my instinct to fight back helped me get out of a dangerous situation.”
