Joe Brady to be Buffalo Bills’ next head coach

Sean McDermott has been the head coach of the Buffalo Bills for seven seasons and the Bills have never made it to the Super Bowl. While the offense is still in the top 10, it definitely took a step back last season to finish sixth in points and fourth in yards compared to the top three as it has been for three straight years. Having only played in one AFC Championship Game under Josh Allen, it’s clear that the message under McDermott has gotten stale. It’s time for a change, and that change is Joe Brady.

The new approach in the NFL is that the most successful teams are the ones with an offensive-oriented head coach. McDermott being a defensive-oriented head coach has reflected that in his philosophy, and it has held the Bills back throughout his coaching tenure and held them back in the playoffs, as McDermott is just 5-6 in the playoffs.

With Joe Brady, he has experience taking on a larger role and succeeding in that role as he became the offensive coordinator after Ken Dorsey was fired mid-season. His immediate takeover led to a massive improvement on the offensive side of the ball. The Bills’ improved offense allowed them to lose just one more game after starting 5-5 under Dorsey. Under Brady, Allen has played better by not forcing the ball, and the running game with James Cook has improved significantly, showing that Brady knows what a balanced attack can do for a team’s success.

Brady knows how to coach successfully, and that comes from learning from a coach like Sean Payton between 2017 and 2018 with the New Orleans Saints. His ability to keep the offense together through turbulence and change is a testament to Brady’s leadership qualities and overall ability to build a stable culture. Not to mention, it’s crucial for stability, and with Brady hiring internally, things would remain consistent for Allen, and he would be someone the team knows.

This ability is needed by the entire Bills team. That’s why it would be ideal for the Bills to hire Brady as their next head coach, which would allow the team to fully unleash its potential.
