Repeat forecast for the rest of the week

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – The forecast cycle remains in this repeating pattern through the end of the week, into this coming weekend, and even early next week. With the chance of isolated rain and storms remaining elevated, around 50-60%, the humidity factor is quite noticeable, along with lower afternoon high temperatures between 30 and 35 degrees.

While the chance of rain is increased, that’s not necessarily a bad thing! In fact, the water front in the sky is necessary… as parts of central and southern Alabama continue to suffer unusually dry to moderately dry drought conditions.

Today it will be cloudy, but some sunshine is also expected. Humidity is high. The wind will be from the west at around 8 km/h and can be stormy at times.

During the afternoon, isolated showers and thunderstorms are possible, lasting until the early evening hours. Maximum temperatures will reach 30 to 35 degrees Celsius. Clouds will remain overnight, minimum temperatures will be 25 to 35 degrees Celsius and the wind will be light to calm.

The reason for the increased rain and storm chances is a blocked boundary directly north of us. Normally in the summer we have a 20% chance of one shower or storm per day… but thanks to this boundary and the pulses of energy moving our way, that chance of rain is increasing to 50-60% each day.

Along with the increased chance of rain, the increased humidity will also remain. This means that the sticky, icky feeling in the air will be felt in full force whether it rains in your area or not.

As is typical for summer, some places experience heavy rain, lightning, thunder and gusty winds, while other areas are just warm and humid with lots of clouds.

No major change in the weather pattern is expected. That means Wednesday through Friday will look like a double. Expect highs around 32 degrees and lows around 21 degrees during that period. Scattered rain and storms are possible each day, with lots of clouds and some sunshine.

Long-term data shows that not only will the weather pattern remain the same over the weekend, but there will be no changes in daily rain chances, cooler temperatures, and muggy conditions this weekend and early next week, as there is no change in the jet stream or a system in place to lift the boundaries in place across the region.
