Woman shot at corner of Lake Arrowhead Avenue and Alvarado Boulevard in Fremont; suspect flees scene, police say

FREMONT, California – A woman was shot and killed in Fremont on Saturday night, police said.

According to police, officers responded to a report of a shooting in the area of ​​Lake Arrowhead Avenue and Alvarado Boulevard around 8:55 p.m. Saturday.

Officers found a woman with a gunshot wound, and despite rescue attempts, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The suspect fled before officers arrived, police said.

ABC7 News has obtained footage showing a car crashing into a liquor store in the area where the shooting occurred.

Preliminary information suggests that the victim and the suspect knew each other, police said.

This was one of two homicide investigations by Fremont police on Saturday and the fourth in the city this year, the police department said.

Fremont Police issued the following statement Sunday evening:

“On Saturday, July 20, 2024, two people were shot and killed in our community under unrelated circumstances. While the recent crimes remain under investigation, we believe both murders were committed by individuals who did not reside in our community. Although the investigation is ongoing, based on preliminary information, officers believe one of the incidents may have been a result of domestic violence.”
