Kanpur: A woman, mother of four, who was attacked by her alleged lover for talking to others on her mobile phone, died on Sunday morning while undergoing treatment at King George’s Medical University (KGMU) in Lucknow. The autopsy report said that the woman died of profuse bleeding due to head injuries. The woman’s husband, a resident of Gujaini H-Block Kachchi Basti in Govind Nagar police station area, had died of an illness one and a half years ago. She has four children. After her husband’s death, the woman started working as a labourer where she met one Suresh, an unmarried mason residing in Lalitpur. After getting to know each other for a few days, the two moved in together. According to the woman’s sons, initially everything was fine but after some time, Suresh started abusing her every time their mother made a call. On Sunday morning, when her elder son and other sons had gone to work in the factory, the accused returned home drunk and started attacking the woman. Later, the accused attacked the woman several times with a stick and a sharp weapon on her face, temple and mouth, causing serious injuries. The woman was initially admitted to a private hospital and then to Lala Lajpat Rai Hospital in a critical condition. She was later admitted to KGMU Lucknow on Saturday evening, where she died during treatment. Abhay Singh, superintendent of Govind Nagar police station, said the body has been sent for post-mortem. “Further action will be taken based on the complaint,” he added.
