Three dead and one injured in car crash in Slippery Rock Township – Butler Eagle

Three people are dead and another person seriously injured in a car crash that occurred shortly after midnight on Saturday morning, July 20, on State Route 65 in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County.

According to a news release from the Pennsylvania State Police New Castle barracks, the vehicle – a 2019 Nissan Armada – was traveling south on Route 65 when it crossed into the oncoming lane. The vehicle then struck two utility poles and then a car parked in a driveway before being thrown through the air and hitting some trees before finally coming to a stop.

There were four people in the vehicle, including the driver. The driver and two of the passengers were pronounced dead at the scene, while the surviving passenger was flown by helicopter to UPMC Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh for “advanced medical treatment.”

According to Charles Peak, chief of the Slippery Rock Volunteer Fire Department, two of the occupants were thrown from the vehicle, while the other two were trapped and had to be extricated.

“We were on the scene about nine minutes after the call,” Peak said. “Two victims were ejected from the vehicle and two remained trapped in the vehicle. We were able to free a small child in time and take him to Pittsburgh by rescue helicopter.”

The Lawrence County Coroner’s Office has publicly identified the four occupants as members of the Bogacki family, all of Portersville. The driver, 43-year-old Nathan, and passengers Emma, ​​17, and Grant, 13, were killed. The surviving passenger is 11-year-old Aubrey, whose condition is described in the news release as “serious.”

“As far as I know, the report I received last night says her condition is still critical but stable,” Peak said.

Pennsylvania State Police said their investigation is ongoing. The Slippery Rock VFD, Wayne Township Volunteer Fire Department, Shenango Volunteer Fire Department, Noga Ambulance Service and Lawrence County Coroner’s Office also responded to the scene.
