Leobardo Salazar-Cisneros arrested after fatal accident in 2023

Leobardo Salazar-Cisneros, 64, was arrested Monday by the U.S. Marshals Service on manslaughter charges in connection with a car crash that killed his passenger, the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office said.

On the night of July 31, 2023, Salazar-Cisneros was driving a car in Estrella Village near Maricopa County Road 85 and 91st Avenue, according to authorities.

According to Sergeant Monica Bretado of the agency, 50-year-old Cristina Mano-Cruz was sitting in the passenger seat of the vehicle, which was driving down the road with its headlights off.

Officials said Salazar-Cisneros collided with another car that was turning left on a yellow light. He later said he did not see the other driver. Mano-Cruz died at the scene.

Salazar-Cisneros survived but was hospitalized with serious injuries. A blood test showed a blood alcohol level of 0.119%, according to authorities.

According to court documents, the Maricopa County Superior Court on July 10 issued a grand jury warrant for Leobardo Salazar-Cisneros’ arrest on one count of manslaughter and two counts of endangerment.
