Almost 100° at the start of the week

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – Yesterday we officially hit 100° at BNA Airport for the first time this year and will be flirting with that 100° mark as we begin the work week.

FIRST WEATHER WARNING – HEAT

Get ready for another hot and humid day in the Mid State with temperatures expected to reach the mid to upper 90s this afternoon. Factoring in the humidity, it will feel like anywhere between 100 and 105°+ at times. Today is a First weather warning day because of the dangerous heat.

A few clouds will appear throughout the day and I can’t completely rule out isolated showers or storms in southern Middle Tennessee.

Tonight will be just as uncomfortable as last night, with lows of around 20 degrees, and the humidity will make for poor sleeping conditions.

More extreme heat is in store for us on Tuesday, with highs between 35 and 40 degrees Celsius and a heat index in the triple digits in the afternoon. Just like today, an isolated shower or thunderstorm cannot be completely ruled out, but most of us will stay dry.

There will be a little more rain on Wednesday as more thunderstorms develop in the afternoon and evening. However, temperatures are still expected to reach the 35 degree mark in most areas and the heat index is likely to be back to just above 30 degrees.

COOLING DOWN

Cooler weather will finally return on Thursday, with temperatures actually falling below average again and reaching over 25 degrees. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected throughout the day, with some downpours possible during thunderstorms, but there is currently no serious danger.

On Friday temperatures will remain around 30 degrees, with isolated showers or thunderstorms during the day, but it will be drier in the afternoon.

Saturday and Sunday will be a little warmer with highs in the 30s and afternoons around 30 degrees. At the moment I’m not expecting any rain this weekend, but there is a chance of thunderstorms both days this weekend.
