Islamabad (Pakistan), July 12 (ANI): Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party led by former Prime Minister Imran Khan has suspended the membership of Sher Afzal, who was elected to the National Assembly in the elections held on February 8 this year, local media reported.
The decision regarding the rebel leader was taken after PTI members met with the jailed party founder, Pakistan-based ARY News Imran Khan reported.
A party leader alleged that Sher Afzal Marwat had been continuously violating party discipline for the past month.
“During the meeting with Imran Khan, it was agreed that no leader is above the party and all other leaders face the same fate if they cross the party line,” the leader added, according to ARY News.
Earlier, on May 11 this year, PTI had issued summons to Marwat for violating the company’s code of conduct and policies.

The statement from the PTI’s central secretariat said Marwat had made “irresponsible statements” that had damaged the reputation and interests of the PTI despite receiving clear instructions from party founder Imran Khan.
According to the statement, Marwat’s actions and words have damaged his relations with other PTI members and stakeholders.
The PTI Central Secretariat has asked Marwat to submit his comments in writing within three days of the request, explaining why no disciplinary action should be taken against him.
The call for responses against the PTI chairman states: “If your response is unsatisfactory or you do not respond, further action will be taken as per the party’s policy and rules.”
Marwat made headlines for his blunt and controversial remarks and was at loggerheads with several PTI politicians, including Taimur Khan Jhagra, Omar Ayub and Shibli Faraz.
Earlier, Omar Ayub had stated on May 9 that the PTI had expelled Marwat from its core and political committees on the instructions of Imran Khan. He said that Marwat had been warned time and again against violating the PTI’s policies. (ANI)
