Umkhonto weSizwe (MK) party founder Jabulani Khumalo has suspended former president Jacob Zuma as a precautionary measure. This after Khumalo himself was expelled from the party by Zuma last week.

The internal turmoil in the controversial new party is reminiscent of the implosions of the People’s Congress and Mamphela Ramphele’s AgangSA – both parties collapsed due to infighting shortly after the first election.

However, the MK Party appears to be embroiled in a murderous factional battle in the crucial weeks before its first election.
