Woman seriously injured in agricultural accident in Box Elder County

FIELDING, Box Elder County – A 54-year-old woman was hospitalized after becoming stuck in a piece of farm equipment Monday evening.

On Monday around 7:15 p.m., officers were called to the town of Fielding, about 10 miles north of Tremonton, because a woman had been injured by an auger attached to a tractor.

The drill was running alongside a fence when a fence wire got caught in it, causing the woman, who was standing nearby, to be caught and pulled in, said Box Elder County Sheriff’s Deputy Cade Palmer. She suffered severe injuries to her legs, two of them broken and one nearly requiring amputation.

The family member operating the tractor with the auger attached called 911.

The woman was flown to an Ogden hospital in critical condition, Palmer said. As of Tuesday afternoon, Palmer had no update on her condition and her identity was not released.
